In October 1844, Louis Philippe, King of the French, crossed the Channel to make a week-long visit to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Windsor Castle. This scene, which took place on October 8, shows the queen introducing three of her children to Louis–Victoria Princess Royal), Albert Prince of Wales, and Princess Alice. The print belongs to a bound set of twenty-five lithographs published in 1846 to commemorate the journey. Related text, pp. 19-20 describes the subject.
