In October 1844 Louis Philippe, King of the French, crossed the Channel and made a week-long visit to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Windsor Castle. This image shows the king, queen and prince riding in the queen's private railway carriage, accompanied by two soldiers.The print is part of a bound set of twenty-five lithographs published in 1846 to commemorate Louis's visit. Related text, pp. 49-50 describes the subject.
