Technical description: Standard, unlabeled violin with a rectangular hole cut between the f-holes; within the hole and extending partially above it, covered by a shaped metal cover, is a shallow cylindrical device set on edge, consisting of a metal ring enclosing a mica (?) plate screwed to the top of the exposed edge of the ring is an "L"-shaped arm, the tapered point of which rests at the center of the mica plate; above the screw fastening is mounted the bridge (the top curved portion of a normal violin bridge) backed by a think metal plate; vibration of the ridge by the strings is transmitted to the mica plate by the "L"-shaped arm; the sound is then amplified by a large horn-like bell fastened to the back of the shallow cylinder by means of a tube inside the violin, protruding from the lower left bout; the bell is detachable from this tube, and is supported on the player's shoulder by a removable strut; a plastic and ebony chinrest and octagonal bow are also provided, and the entire apparatus fits in a trapezoidal black carrying case.
