alt text = " "

The Museum of Primitive Art opened to the public in 1957 in a townhouse on West 54th Street in New York City. The museum was founded by Nelson Aldrich Rockefeller, and displayed his personal collection of art from around the world. The museum officially closed in 1974, and the collection, staff, and library were eventually transferred to The Met, becoming what is today The Michael C. Rockefeller Wing. This collection is a complete set of all known publications produced by The Museum of Primitive Art.
