MetFridays Launches at Met Museum, Highlighting Range of Activities for Visitors on Friday Evenings

(New York, January 30, 2015)—This evening, The Metropolitan Museum of Art inaugurates MetFridays, highlighting all of the offerings for visitors that make Friday evenings at the Met special. Every Friday the Museum is open until 9 p.m., and visitors can view exhibitions, drop into drawing classes, enjoy concerts, or catch up over drinks or dinner. Now a new webpage helps visitors find out what’s happening at the Met each Friday. Visitors are encouraged to share the experience on InstagramTwitter, and Facebook (#MetFridays).

This Friday the Met will present Jazz & Colors at the Met: The Masterworks Edition, an innovative museum-wide music event. Fifteen jazz groups—ranging from small combos to larger ensembles—will perform the same two sets of jazz standards in their own unique musical styles in 15 separate galleries around the Met’s main building at Fifth Avenue & 82nd Street. At 6 and 7:30 p.m., visitors can sample their music and the galleries in which they are performing, all free with Museum admission.

The full range of activities for this Friday, as well as for upcoming Fridays, can be found here
