World-renowned Classical Pianist Lang Lang to Perform at Metropolitan Museum as Part of Centennial Celebration of Asian Art and Culture

This spring, The Metropolitan Museum of Art will present a special performance celebrating The Costume Institute’s exhibition China: Through the Looking Glass as well as the 100th anniversary of the Asian Art Department.

For the opening concert in conjunction with the highly anticipated China: Through the Looking Glass, pianist Lang Lang will perform a special evening of music on May 14 at 8:00 p.m. in the Great Hall, one of the Met’s most magnificent spaces. Lang Lang, regarded worldwide as one of the hottest musicians in classical music, and as a performer revered for his virtuosity and energetic style, recently appeared at the 2015 Grammy Awards. This performance at the Met will also be live streamed.

A singular performance experience, staged just for the Met, Lang Lang’s program will include compositions by Wu Zuqiang and Du Mingxin, Lü Wencheng, as well as Chopin Scherzo No. 1 and Scherzo No. 3, The Seasons by Tchaikovsky, among others.
