Met Museum Presents, the Metropolitan Museum’s newly renamed and reconceived series of performances and talks, offers interpretations of and reflections on the Museum’s collection, special exhibitions, and tradition through the work of some of today’s most celebrated composers and performing artists. In addition to talks by the Met’s extraordinary curators, conservators, and educators, the wide-ranging 2012-13 season of performances features Warhol Today, events complementing the exhibition Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years; Framing Beethoven, the string quartets performed by the Endellion Quartet and talks on the composer; The Sau Wing Lam Collection of Violins played by the Salomé Chamber Orchestra; jazz great Charles Lloyd, rock legend Patti Smith, Bill T. Warhol Cabaret in the Petrie Court Café: Kalup Linzy’s “Introducing Kaye”
In the lead-up to the opening of Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years, the Met’s Petrie Court Café will be transformed into “Warhol Cabaret,” featuring Kalup Linzy. Linzy, whose video work appears in the Regarding Warhol exhibition, will perform original songs, as well as covers, against a video backdrop, introducing his new, emerging persona: The Artist Kaye. Linzy’s sharp-witted, mercurial stage presence channels the creative sizzle and edginess of Warhol’s multimodal portraiture.
This event is part of Warhol Today, a series of concerts, talks, and tours extending Regarding Warhol: Sixty Artists, Fifty Years, an exhibition exploring Andy Warhol’s dominating influence not only in the visual realm but also in performance, media, and pop culture. The exhibition is on view September 18—December 31, 2012.

Patti Smith and Jesse Paris Smith on Andy Warhol’s World—Live Audio Stream
Rock legend and Met Museum favorite Patti Smith and her daughter, Jesse Paris Smith, pay tribute to Andy Warhol, her fellow traveler on the cutting edge of the New York art and music scene in the 1970s.
