The symposium “Truth, Lies, and Photographs” was presented in conjunction with the exhibition Faking It: Manipulated Photography before Photoshop, on view October 11, 2012, through January 27, 2013. In this talk, Jordan Bear, Assistant Professor of Art History, University of Toronto, presents multiple examples of Photo-Diagrams, or photographs that have been turned into photo illustrations in order to inform viewers about events that a photographer was not present to capture.
