접시
18세기 후반 및 19세기 초반의 펜실베니아 독일 도예가들은 그 지역에서 찾아볼 수 있는 적점토를 활용하여 지방 시장을 상대로 보다 많은 정교한 도자기뿐만 아니라 실용적인 토기 조각을 제작하였습니다. 이민 장인들의 기술과 장식 전통은 그들의 고향에 뿌리를 두고 있습니다. 노샘프턴 카운티에서 유래된 이 접시는 많은 펜실베이니아 독일인들이 사용한 마무리 끝손질 기법의 본보기입니다. 이것은 단단해진 점토를 흰색 슬립으로 코팅한 다음 뾰족한 도구로 표면을 스크래치하여 그 밑에 있는 적색 층을 드러내는 방법입니다. 이 작품은 이런 종류의 다른 많은 작품처럼 간소화한 공작과 꽃무늬 주제를 특징으로 합니다.
