이 석주는 넥타네보 2세 재위 기간 중 오늘날카이로 근처에 해당하는 헬리오폴리스 소재 므네비스 신전(황소 신전)을 위해 사제 에사툼이 제작하였습니다. 단단한 석재를 경이로울 정도로 섬세하게 조각하였습니다. 석주 정면의 깊게 새긴 이미지는 젊은 호루스 신이 악어와 전갈과 같은 위험한 동물을 퇴치하는 장면을 보여줍니다. 기단에 새겨진 문자는 호루스 신이 전갈에 쏘였지만치유되었다는 이야기를 전합니다. 석주의 전체 표면을 덮고 있는 치유 주문과 수호신 상은 고대 이집트인들에게 커다란 심리적 힘이 되었습니다.
