“항해의 역사” 벽화
원양 정기선인 노르망디호는 프랑스 아르데코 양식 실내 장식 최후의 대작이었습니다. 이 벽화는 일등실 응접실을 위해 제작된 4점의 작품 중 하나입니다. 항해의 역사는 명목상의 주제이며 실재하지 않는 선박과 신화 속의 동물은 이야기를 전달하는 것이 목적이 아니라 장식 효과를 창출합니다. 노르망디호의 승객들은 운송 수단보다는 분위기를 즐기기 위해 요금을 지불했으며 응접실은 화려하였습니다. 거울 같은 광휘는 베르 에글로미제 기법에서 비롯된 것인데, 이 기법에 의하면 장식을 판유리 패널 뒷면에 설치한 후 앞면이 응접실을 향하게 고정하였습니다.
