크티시스를 인격화한 마루 모자이크 부분

후기 로마와 비잔틴 미술에서는 추상적인 개념을 인격화하여 표현할 때가 많았습니다. 이 모자이크에서 보석으로 치장한 여인은 길이(로마식 피트) 측정 도구를 들고 있으며, 관대한 기부 또는 기금 설립을 의미하는 복원된 그리스어 명문 “크티시스(Ktisis)”를 인격화하고 있습니다. 풍요의 뿔을 들고 있는 남자 머리 옆의 그리스어 명문 행은 제작 당시에는 행운이라고 썼던 문자가 절반만 보존된 것으로 추정합니다. 이 부분은 대리석과 유리 테세라(모자이크용 채색 조각)로 제작되었으며 6세기 비잔틴 문화권 전역에서 제작된 우수한 모자이크의 전형을 보여줍니다.
