요한 묵시록의 주석
중세 스페인 특유의 복자 삽화 필사본은이 지역 수도원 문화의 예술성과 지성을 보여 주는 예입니다. 이 필사본에는 8세기 아스투리아스 지역의 복자 리에바나의 해석을 통해 요한 묵시록에 기록된 세계의 종말이 선명하게 묘사되어 있습니다. 이 장의 삽화에는 현실에서는 볼 수 없는 무서운 사건을 다섯 번째 천사가 나팔을 불어 알려 주는 내용이 그려져 있습니다. 지상의 구덩이에서 솟아 오르는 연기는 태양을 검게 물들이고 무시무시한 줄무늬 메뚜기 떼는 전갈의 꼬리로 사람들을 찌르고 죽음을 피한 사람들은 자비를 빌고 있는 장면입니다. 이 작품은 1870년대에 해체된 필사본의 한 장입니다.
