디브를 물리친 타흐무라스: 샤흐 타흐마스프의 샤나마로부터의 폴리오
말을 타고 초원을 달려가는 영웅적인 통치자타흐무라스는 디브(악마)를 무찌르고 목숨을 살려주는 조건으로 서도를 가르쳤습니다. 이 폴리오는 샤나마(왕서)의 장면을 묘사하며 술탄 무함마드가 그렸다고 전해집니다. 그는 고대 이란 왕들의 이야기를 신화적인 기원부터 651년 아랍 정복까지 묘사한 샤나마의 초대 화가였습니다. 공포에 질린 디브의 표정과 몸짓의 해학성 그리고 반점 있는 피부의 회화적 처리는 술탄 무함마드의 전형적인 양식입니다. 연 모양 구름과 극단적인 단축법 사용을 통해 이 화가의 뿌리가 투르크멘족에 있음을 짐작할 수 있습니다. 이 화가의 또 다른 특징인 바위에 숨은 동물 형상은 영적인 세계를 상기시킵니다.
