정신병원의 복도
프랑스 생레미에 있는 정신병원의 복도가 원근법에 따라 원경으로 급격하게 멀어지고 있으며 중경에는 작은 남성이 문으로 들어 가는 것을 묘사하고 있는 이 작품은 반 고흐가 1889년 5월부터 사망하기 직전인 1890년 5월까지 1년간 머물렀던 병동을그린 작품 중 가장 인상적인 작품입니다. 고흐는 이 대형 채색 소묘 작품을 그의 남동생 테오에게 보내 자신이 머물던 병동의 모습을 보여 주었습니다. 굵은 평행선으로 채색한 밝은 산성색은 반복적인 진동을 일으키며 급격하게 물러나는 원근법은 인물에게 조여드는 죔틀을 암시합니다.
