このフレスコ画では、筋肉のピンと張った腱、凝視する目、そして逆立ったたてがみから、ライオンの激しい気迫が伝わってきます。元はサン・ペドロ・デ・アルランサ修道院の参事会集会所にあった一対のフレスコの片方で、2階の戸口の両脇にあったものです。13世紀に描かれたこのフレスコ画は、18世紀の改装工事で隠されてしまい、1894年の火災で再発見されました。その後個人に売却されましたが、最終的に当館に収蔵されました。クロイスターズでは、同じ集会所からの龍のフレスコ画も展示しています。
