Questa spilla è un prezioso esempio tra quelle utilizzate dalle donne germaniche orientali che abitavano lungo la valle del Danubio tra il 300 e il 400 d.C. Senza alcun dubbio apparteneva a una donna d’alto rango e faceva parte di una ricca parure di gioielli in oro: bracciali, anelli e collane con pendenti da indossare per la sepoltura.
