The trifoglio, or trefoil, is an archetypal shape that originated with ancient Greek and Roman oinochoes, clay wine jugs that often feature distinctive, clover-shaped spouts. Mari, whose practice involves the exploration of basic forms, executed multiple vases of this design in various materials, including glass, melamine (a hard plastic), and, here, ceramic. Note: F4.
