The Service Yard of a Château, with Poultry
Jean Honoré Fragonard French
Not on view
Fragonard here describes the busy farmyard of a château, the grand pediment of which is visible through the trees. His spontaneous draftsmanship—bold lines, broad hatchings, and zigzag patterns—conveys a sense of the activity that fills the yard, which is scattered with barrels and populated by turkeys and chickens as well as a handful of workers and a watchful dog.
