These silver covers show a crucifixion on the front and Christ, Savior of the World, with the symbols of the four evangelists on the back. Unlike the decoration on the repoussé metalwork made in Kayseri, these raised figures were cast separately and then attached to the smooth gilded silver. The red pouch, with fine multicolored silk embroidery typical of the Lake Van region, held the Gospel Book.
