The horses on this European-style garment are beaded to represent the mixed coloration of Pintos, Blue Roans, and Chestnuts. Although the imagery is in keeping with earlier pictographic depictions of men’s specific deeds in war, here the warriors and their horses are generally featured on parade. This intercultural garment may have been created for sale to a non-Indian or produced for a Native American, perhaps a member of a Wild West show.
