About the AR Experience

The Chroma AR experience allows smartphone users to virtually recreate an ancient Greek sculpture of a sphinx in full color, in their own space, comparing the vivid reconstruction and as it looks today. The project features both interpretive and playful components that reflect collaborative work among scientists, imaging specialists, conservators, technologists, art historians, and others.

Chroma AR was created in partnership with Bluecadet.

Troubleshooting Tips

Can't see the sphinx or the model doesn't look right?
Tap the reset button to reposition her.

Still having trouble?
Make sure you’re in a well-lit environment.
Try reloading your browser to restart.
Check your permissions to make sure your browser can access the camera and motion sensors.

Try the non-AR mode:
If you have an older phone, don’t want to give permissions, want to save battery life or seek an accessible alternative, try switching to non-AR mode. It has all the content of the AR experience.

Is your battery draining quickly?
This is expected behavior. The app is processing a lot of data.
