Free with Museum admission

Nurhan Atasoy, Art Historian and Senior Resident Scholar, Turkish Cultural Foundation

Explore the rich cross-cultural exchanges between the Ottomans and their European neighbors. Discover the factors that led to the flowering of vibrant and sophisticated artistic production throughout the vast Ottoman Empire in the centuries following the conquest of Constantinople in 1453, and learn how Europe became hungry for visual and artistic representations of their eastern neighbors.

This new annual lecture series will highlight Ottoman and Turkish art in celebration of Turkey's centennial in 2023. This series is made possible by The Turkish Centennial Fund.
