Vase
Fulper Pottery Company American
This monumental vase, one of a pair made specifically for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco, flanked the Fulper Pottery's exhibit there. The judges at the fair awarded the firm a gold Medal of Honor for its display. The vase is a striking example of one of over one hundred glazes developed under Fulper's art pottery line, "Vasekraft," which was introduced in 1909. The size of the vase underscores technical achievement: its graceful form and its ability to withstand firing without breaking are unusual in such a large piece. The vase descended in the family of William H. Fulper II.
