An oval image within a rectangular frame. George III sits enthroned next to Apollo, who symbolizes the king's patronage of the arts and sciences. Standing at right, the god holds a laurel wreath over the king's head. At left, putti hold an easel and folios of prints while instruments relating to navigation appear at right before a distant ship framed by columns. At left, the winged horse Pegasus prepares to take off from a mountain top.
