Hiren Roy Bangladeshi

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 681

This instrument was a gift from famed sitar virtuoso Ustad Vilayat Khan Sahib to his student Hasu Patel. It was one of the last instruments made by the pre-emient luthier Hiren Roy in Calcutta. It is typical of other instruments used by Vilayat Khan and his family with a single tumba (gourd).
