The Half and The Whole (pair of vases)

Minton(s) British
Decorator Louis Marc Emmanuel Solon French

Not on view

Hearts as symbols of love were not a common feature of neoclassical decoration on eighteenth-century ceramics. By contrast, Solon frequently adopted the motif alongside cupid figures. Vases such as this pair became illustrations of Victorian sentiment.
