In 1930 Florencio Molina Campos was commissioned by the Fábrica Argentina de Alpargatas (Buenos Aires) to produce drawings depicting rural life for calendars. The drawings that provided the basis for illustations in the calendars are humorous and develop stock characters in different contexts. The copies of the calendars in The Met collection are in pristine condition and remain in their original wrappers. They run from 1931 through to and including 1945 but lack the years 1937–1939.
