A Lady Kneels Before George, Prince of Wales

Not on view

This image, a rare non-satire after Isaac Robert Cruikshank, shows an unidentified lady petitioning the Prince of Wales who holds a paper, with Charles James Fox and others watching the encounter. The prince's slender physique, and presence of Fox, places the incident in the late 1780s, although the print itself must date later, since Cruikshank's independent career only began around 1818.
