Not on view

This 1833 print commemorates C. H. Simpson's long as Master of Ceremonies at Vauxhall Gardens, a position he had assumed in 1798. He stands here at the entrance to the pleasure grounds, posed elegantly to greet a visiting general. Part of the celebratory decor created for this anniversary included tracing Simpson's profile in lights, shown in the background.
