Queen Victoria's coronation was held in Westminster Abbey on June 28, 1838 and here takes an oath to defend Protestantism. Dressed in ceremonial robes and standing near an altar and the royal regalia on a cushion, the queen places a hand on a Bible and is watched by the Archbishop of Canterbury, senior cleric of the Church of England.
