Bracelet
Designer Josef Hoffmann Austrian
Not on view
Josef Hoffmann played an important part in the history of modern design, as co-founder of both the Vienna Secession and the Wiener Werkstätte. This bracelet combines several elements of Hoffmann's design ethic. In his jewelry, he favored rectilinear forms encasing more curvilinear ones, which often invoked elements of nature. The openwork style of this bracelet relates to his grid designs, known as gitterwerk.
