Box

Designer Josef Hoffmann Austrian
Manufacturer Wiener Werkstätte

Not on view

The box was a particularly popular item offered by the Wiener Werkstätte. The unusual rhombus shape sets this box apart from many others. However, the shape itself is a common design element incorporated into the design of architecture, jewelry, and other metal wares of the Wiener Werkstätte. The décor of the box is found on its top; the middle of the top protrudes up, like a spine, flanked by two round indentations. The box is designed by Josef Hoffmann, co-founder of the workshop.
