Shrimp Boats, Great Yarmouth

Sir Muirhead Bone British, Scottish

Not on view

Sir Muirhead Bone was a Scottish printmaker and watercolor artist noted for his depictions of architectural subjects, city views, landscapes, and his work as a war artist in both the First and Second World Wars. For years, Great Yarmouth, a coastal town in Norfolk, England, was a major fishing port, as well as a popular seaside resort on the North Sea. Bone's picturesque waterfront captures the character of old quayside buildings as well as a small crowd of moored fishing boats; in the late twentieth century, Great Yarmouth's fishing industry declined.
