Uniformes Anglais
Hand-colored engraving with design for two English military costumes, part of the book "Incroyables et Merveilleuses," with 33 costume plates designed by Horace Vernet and engraved by Georges Jacques Gatine, published ca. 1815 in Paris. The costumes consist of red military jackets with a pink scarf with red stripes tied around the waist, silver epaulettes, trousers, boots, black tricorne hats with gray feathers, a thin, wooden cane, and a gold and silver sword. In one case, the jacket has blue lapel and cuffs, and is worn over a white shirt with ruffled collar, is decorated with a silver military condecoration, and is worn with tight, pale yellow breeches tucked inside black boots. In the other, the jacket has yellow lapel and cuffs, and is worn with gray and cream trousers and black boots with silver spurs.
