La Parure des Dames, Plate 6

Sixth plate of a set of 12 plates of men's and women's coiffures, containing four designs for women's coiffures. The hairstyles are presented inside four simple, rectangular frames, each containing an illustration of the upper body of a woman, wearing a fashionable dress of the 1770s, decorated with ruffles, ribbons and bows of different colors, which match the fancy hairstyle that adorns her head. The hairstyles presented contain hats in the styles from different parts of the world and periods: The first, from Boston, with a bell shape and wit strips of pearls, undulating borders, and ribbons, decorated with large, colorful feathers, and tied with strips of fabric under the chin. The second style, "à la Voltaire", consists of a white hat with black stripes, with branches of laurel leaves around it, a brooch framed with pearls in the front, and three large feathers, a branch of laurel leaves, and a bundle with three small, red roses, on top. The third hat, "à la Minerva", is richly decorated with ribbons, leaves, large feathers, tassels, ribbon bows, and a bundle of flowers and leaves, all executed with red, yellow, and green, over a grayish-white base hat. The final hat, "à la Colonnie", has ruffled borders, strips of pearls, green-and-yellow ribbons with red roses, and large feathers of red, yellor and white colors.
