These eight album leaves show Huang Jun engaging with the styles of a diverse group of painters, from Zhao Boju of the Southern Song dynasty (1127–1279) to Wu Li of the Qing dynasty. By Huang’s time, artists felt increasingly free to build idiosyncratic canons in old master albums, as seen here.
