Studio d'Arts Décoratifs, 2e Série, Pl. 7, Sept Dessins dans les tons rouge et noir

Seventh plate of the second series of the pochoir textile pattern book, titled "Studio d'arts décoratifs", with Art Deco textile designs created by Nicolas Sorokine and published in Paris by Armand Guérinet, probably in the second half of the 1920s or the early 1930s. The series consists of a title page with index and 12 plates with designs numbered 1-12, each with numerous designs, bound with dark blue linen boards. The designs contain a variety of geometric motifs, birds and flowers, all typical of the Art Deco style, which was characterized by its eclecticism, drawing from a variety of sources that sought to combine old European design traditions with the modern style diffused by avant-garde art, while also reflecting the romantic fascination with early Egyptian and Meso-American "exotic" cultures promoted by archaeological discoveries of the times.

This plate consists of seven designs executed with shades of red and black, some with accents of other colors. The first design consists of an abstract pattern with stripes and lines with zig-zagging edges and semi-abstract leaves, colored with black and white, above which stand out small rectangles, most of them colored with red. The second design is made up vertical lines and horizontal zig-zagging stripes executed with gray, red and black and small rextangles executed with red over a white ground; some of the spaces between the lines are filled with thin diagonal gray lines. The third design is made up of alternating horizontal rows of red triangles and black garlands of stylized roses and leaves over a white ground; the design also has vertical stripes executed with gray, made alternatingly with vertical undulating stripes and with grids made out of thin lines. The fourth design consists of an abstract pattern executed with black triangles and irregular four-sided shapes and semi-abstract asterisks created with small red triangles and poligons over a white ground. The fifth design is made up of semi-abstract rosettes and flowers executed with black over a red ground; the upper part of the design also contains a grid outlined with blue, possibly presenting different alternatives for the same design motif. The sixth design consists of a double grid, made up of alternating vertical and horizontal green lines and vertical and horizontal rows of rosettes, colored with red or black, and with green leaves, and rows of small black squares, over a greenish-cream ground. The final design is made up of semi-abstract flowers colored with cream and ourlined with black, some of them with red and gray accents, and semi-abstract leaves colored with green and black, over a purplish ground.
