Book 4A

Dieter Roth Swiss

Not on view

During his abbreviated career, Roth revolutionized artists’ books, testing both his skill and the technical possibilities for such works by rethinking the basics of book construction, materials, processes, and content in order to challenge expectations. This work reflects the impact of Concrete art, an earlier movement with which Roth was involved, in its intricate composition, repetition of basic patterns, and complex play between black and white tones.
