These prints are reprinted from the original woodblocks prepared by John of Calcar that were used in the first edition of Andreas Vesalius' De Humani Corporis (Basel, 1543). They were also used in the second edition (1552-55). Several of these blocks served to illustrate Vesalius' Suorum de Humani corporis fabrica librorum Epitome and his Von des menschen cörpers Anatomey.
