Bull's head
Late Period–Ptolemaic Period
This bull's head - termed a boukranion - is flat on the back except for a loop. The purpose is unknown; terracotta boukrania were used as coffin ornaments at Naukratis, a Greek-Egyptian emporium in the Egyptian western Delta, and metal ones are used as appliqués in Greek culture.
