Red-Dyed Length of Linen

Middle Kingdom

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 105

This was the last piece of linen used in the wrapping of Wah's mummy. Although red-dyed linen is mentioned in a number of ancient texts, actual examples are rare.
