Scarab with Hieroglyphs

Third Intermediate Period

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 130

The underside of this scarab is inscribed with hieroglyphs that seem to form a divine blessing. Such wishes and blessings are particularly popular during the late New Kingdom and the Third Intermediate Period.
