Vase

René Buthaud French

Not on view

Many designers saw Cubism as a new, abstract vocabulary that could be manipulated and applied for its superficial decorative effect without any real content or innovation. That certainly applies to this vase, the peau-de-serpent (snakeskin) glaze of which is enough to immediately establish it as the work of Buthaud.
