A view of the earthwork fortification called Fort Fish, built in upper Manhattan in 1814 (near the present 105th Street and East Drive, in New York's Central Park). A cannon is shown at right, with a guard on duty, the fort in the middle distance and a house beyond and at left. American flags fly near the cannon and in the fort. Published in "Manual of the Corporation of the city of New York" (known as "Valentine's Manual").
