Not on view

A rural scene set on a dirt road beside a grand country house (with widow's walk and porches at front and back) surrounded by its garden. At the gate of the country house, in the central foreground beneath a prominent tree, there are two gentlemen hunters: one, holding dead ducks while he cradles his shotgun, stands behind the other, whose extended hands present a dead rabbit and small game birds). The men approach a woman dressed in a pale pink dress; she holds a baby dressed in white, as she stands behind the gate and greets the men. Standing near them, a boy (seen from behind) holds a rifle on his shoulder next to two dogs. On the dirt road in the left foreground, geese walk toward a pond, where three geese swim in the water. In the left background, there is a man on horseback approaching on the dirt road, a corn field with two field hands; beyond is a small town, a distant coastal bay and mountains.
One from a series depicting country landscapes through the four seasons; the others are "May Morning," "Summers Evening" and "Pleasures of Winter."
