Goblet
Robert and William Wilson American
This goblet, one of a pair (1970.200.4), and a matching pitcher (1970.200.2) are decorated with a grapevine motif chased in repoussé and ruffled leaves that recall eighteenth-century rococo ornament. The set originally belonged to the donor’s grandmother Grizelda Gilchrist Polk, who married Russell Houston, chief attorney for the Louisville-Nashville Railroad. Her monogram, "GGH," is engraved on the front of the pitcher. The goblets are inscribed to two other members of the Polk-Houston family.
