Convalescent, Mme Lepère
Auguste-Louis Lepère French
Not on view
Lepère here portrays his convalescent wife seated on an armchair by the seaside at sunset. Inspired by Japanese methods, the artist used water-based inks for this print, resulting in overall soft tones. Along with Henri Rivière, Lepère advocated for the revival of artistic woodcuts in France in the late nineteenth century.
