This is one of a series of prints that Bartolozzi based on Holbein drawings in the collection of George III (now Royal Collection, Windsor). The original drawing was made in 1527 and relates to a painted portrait also in the Royal Collection. Sir Henry Guildford was elected to the Order of the Garter in 1526 and appointed Controller of the Household. by Henry VIII. As Master of Revels, he organized ceremonies at Greenwich in 1527 to receive an embassy sent by Francis I to mark a peace accord between France and England (for Wenceslaus Hollar's 1647 etched portrait of Guildford based on the painting at Windsor, see 20.81.3.192).
