The geneology begins with "Sir Henry de Walpole, seated at Houghton" and concludes with Sir Robert Walpole's grandson George Walpole, 3rd Earl of Orford (d. 1751), who sold some of the finest paintings at Houghton Hall to Catherine the Great in 1779. It relates to one published in Sir William Segar's and Joseph Edmonson (d. 1786) "Baronagium Genealogicum: Or, The Pedigrees of the English Peers, Deduced from the Earliest Times, of which There are Any Attested Accounts Including, as Well Collateral as Lineal Descents" (1764-84).
